Here are 8 of the meanest, scariest, most magical, most useful, most horrifying mythical creatures
1. Leshies
This cuddly monster is a Slavic protector of forests. He is known to be very tall, although he can transform himself to any size he wants… and basically anything else. This guy can look like whoever he wants to, he can even take the form of a giant talking mushroom. Other then that, he has green eyes, blue blood and a red scarf (sounds like a colourful guy). The Leshy isn’t evil, he just enjoy kidnapping young woman and tickling every human he meets to death. Yes, he will tickle you to DEATH… but that doesn’t make him evil. To stop him from tickling you to death you must turn your clothes inside out and wear your shoes on the opposite foot. That’s just how you get down with the Leshies. |
2. Clurichauns
This is the Irish leprechaun’s cousin. He lives in your wine cellar (I have a wine cellar?) and is always very drunk. If you’re good to him he’ll keep the wine safe, but he doesn’t want you to be drunk. So if you drink more than he likes he’ll start messing with you. And here you thought the wine in your wine cellar was yours… He is also known for riding dogs and sheep. |
4. Adaro
The Adaro is a half human-half fish creature, kind of like a mermaid. But this is not your regular mermaid. Being a human-fish hybrid was not magical enough for the Adaro. No, it also lives in the Sun and travel to earth on rainbows (if that’s not magical, then I don’t know what is). When on earth, he travels over the oceans on waterspouts and attack humans by shooting flying fish at them. |
6. Bunyip
This is an Australian myth. It lives in water and eats human flesh, especially the flesh of woman and children (which is supposed to be more tender). The bunyip might therefore be used to scare children, so they don’t swim alone. This does definitely sound scary, but there’s one thing that, makes the bunyip even scarier: It’s a giant seal… It’s a giant murderous seal. I might never go swimming again… |
7. Chinese fox
A normal fox from China… except not really. This fox gets to around the age of 1000 before it dies. Just kidding, they are immortal. They are also shape-shifters, often they take the form of old men, academics or beautiful women (but mostly beautiful women, because that is what all foxes wants to grow up to be). They are found in graveyards and survive on human breath and the essence of the moon and sun. Did I mention they do magic… but that should not surprise you at this point. |
